With Sympathy

Today I have a card made one of those cards no one likes to make.  Sympathy cards are difficult to make and give, but since it is easier to make one before you have the need for one, I always try to keep at least one or two in my card file.

I usually use something from nature as the focal point for my sympathy cards like flowers or trees.  Today I have used a very elegant and detailed image of quails from Serendipity Stamps (Quail).  Serendipity has so many beautiful images that can be colored or look elegant just stamped and embossed.  I embossed my images to bring out more of the fabulous detail.  I cut it out with a Spellbinder die and pierced holes along the edge before taking it out of the die.  The patterned papers are by My Minds Eye, Lost and Found Portobello Road collection.  I think the soft blues and browns are very serene which is the look I was going for on this card.  The sentiment is also from Serendipity Stamps (With Sympathy, small) and is stamped onto a PTI Photo Finisher die cut.  The only other element I added was a little zig zag stitching to separate the patterned paper layers.

Head over to www.serendipitystamps.com for 50% off all clear envelopes during their Labor Day Sale.   They also have 50% off punches, acrylic blocks and our stamp of the week.

This is a beautiful card. Those colors and images are so soothing and calming. I agree about making sympathy cards ahead of time--much easier.

Cathy, I have a hard time with these cards too but this really is so beautiful and doesn't look like you had a hard time at all. The image is so peaceful and I love the colors.

Cathy this card is amazing. I love that you left the stamp "as is" - it really shows off all the detail of the image. SO many details that make this so beautiful... the die cuts, stitching, the piercing... Perfect!!! I love it!
