12 Kits of Occasions - September with Kim

(Make sure to check out our Pinterest board here)
I'm back.  After an 8 month break, I am so excited to be back in the 12 Kits of Occasions club where every month a group of 12 crafters take turns hosting a themed card kit.  Although I am glad to be back, I'm so sorry it took a sweet friend (Jeanne Jachna) leaving in order for me to do so, but I plan to make the most of this opportunity.
When I opened my package of goodies from Kim Heggins, this month's hostess...I knew the kit was going to be something great...something cute and scary...something that was going to cause tons of card making ideas to swirl around in my head.  It did!  Want to see why?
Before I show you my cards...here's a little peek of the kit we had to work with this month:

Look at all this!  Didn't Kara take the best picture capturing all the great ingredients in our kit from Kim?
Here's the cards that I made with our September kit:
I think everyone must have had a Trick of Treat bucket at some point...I know every one of my kids had one and it was so much fun re-creating those buckets with all the cute embellishments that Kim sent us.  I used Lil' Inker Stitched squares for mats and some black jute twine to suspend the buckets across my card.  I pinked the edges of the chevron patterned paper from our kit and added my own die cut sentiment.  First card done...about 1/2 hour total.

Kim sent us lots of die cut silhouettes in black and I used two of them to create quite the mess with glitter.  I ran both die cuts through my Xyron, then dipped them both into black glitter.  Wow, a mess, but totally worth it as they are so shiny and really dress up the cute bingo card Kim sent us.  I also used a Cheery Lynn Polynesian Sails Oval cut from black...the bingo card fit perfectly over it along with more great patterned paper and ribbon from Kim.  If you include the the clean-up of glitter everywhere...this one took about 45 minutes or so to finish.

For card #3 I tried to use up a whole bunch of the kit ingredients on this card...it is definitely a hand it to you kind of card because it has lots of pieces to it.  This one is going to my little niece who loves to paste stickers everywhere.  Her mother is going to love me for this one.  I used a Lil' Inker Folded tag and one of the embellishments Kim had attached to our packages.  It was too cute to not use it.  I added a rhinestone and some of the twine that Kim sent us in our kits.  That chevron ribbon also was in the kit and this one took about an hour to finish.

After a little lunch break I got started on card #4.  I decided to use up some more of that great patterned paper.  I used the spider web border and a punched tag decked out in rhinestones backed with another Lil' Inker stitched circle.
My final card is my favorite.
The trick or treat sentiment and the crow are Silhouette cut files from Kim and pairing them with the Impression Obsession Halloween Hill die cut made the creation of this card the fastest of them all.  I love when a card just practically makes itself (as Joyce of Cards by the Sea) always says.
Thank you Kim for helping me to have a fun and creative Saturday!  Ready to see some more Halloween magic?  Here's a link to the other members of our 12 Kits of Occasions card club.

Cathy, I'm so glad you are back!!! And what a comeback you have here!!! I love that first card with all the little buckets strung on twine. And I don't care if it's a "hand deliver" only card.....I love that you meshed so many of the wonderful kit goodies into that one card!!! Just amazing!!!!

Welcome back Cathy! Like Amy said what a comeback you have made with these wonderful cards! Love the one with the treat bag filled up with stickers…how fun is that! Love that you glittered some of the cuts up too. Wish I thought of that! Great job and so happy to have you back…

Welcome back, Cathy! I think your favorite may be my favorite, too, although it's almost impossible to have one. That awesome card with a tag pocket full of goodies is fighting for first place! That's incredible! And putting black glitter on the cat is genius. I didn't even think of that and now I must try it - outside! Thanks for all the inspiring ways I can use up the bits of my kit that I have left! Hugs, Darnell

Awww, Cathy, I love that little banner you created on the first card with the treat buckets! Then the pocket card is brilliant! The other banner card showcasing the patterned papers is a close third in my book. Welcome back, what a way to come back, this kit was great and you sure knew how to show it off :)

YAY! So glad you are back and we can be in the little group at the same time :)!! My favorite by a smidge has to be the little treat containers all strung up in a row, such an adorable layout! So glad you showcased all those little candy tickets from the patterned paper! I have mine left over and they are just so adorable in the little tag/bag (PS...kept my "trick" medallion, too!...I see a case in my future.) How stunning are that black bat and cat?! Makes me think vintage and dramatic when paired with the bingo card and that ornate frame. You didn't even get rusty over your break...your back with a Halloween BANG!

You are back with a burst of creative energy. Good timing, that you would come back right before Halloween. I loved the time estimates you gave--you are a very speedy crafter. These are all just fabulous--cute idea to make a banner of all those little hanging pumpkins, I think the glitter was worth it for the bat and black cat, what a fun card that is a gift--with the pocket tag ful of stickers, and great way to use all those fun papers on your last card.

Welcome back, Cathy--so happy to see your amazing Halloween designs! You really rocked this kit! I just love those little buckets strung across your first card. (I still have mine--yeah!) Your glittered images might have been a bit messy but were worth it as they look so great in the end. And I love that ornate frame behind the bingo card! Gosh, seems I have so many favorites! The pocket of candy stickers is a really fun idea and your Trick or Treat card is amazing! I just adored those die cuts and they work so great together.

Cathy...welcome back to 12 kits! You did simply amazing things with this kit and I love them all! So fun and very spooky too...you are so stinkin' clever to use that fabulous folder from Lil Inkers, that never crossed my mind but I will be making one just like it, but I will put some McDonald's coupons inside, just love it. I was stumped with that crow but happy to see that you were not, this is just so creepy over the graveyard. I can just imagine the children knocking on that door asking for candy...so fun!

OH you have me in the mood for Halloween here Cathy. SO many neat things that I love - that bitty pocket looks like its stuffed with candy - the glittery silhouettes - the crow in the center of the "O" - I love them all! Gorgeous photography here too! You're back in your element Cathy!

Cathy how is it that you had the same kit as the rest of it and yet your porjects are all so very unique! The treat bucket garland is so fun against the chevron paper, love your glittery cat and bat against that ornate die cut, I also love how you used the folded tag die and left the tickets poking out, I cut all mine apart and then drew a blank. Great use of the crow, looks good against the die cut!

Cathy, it is so great having you back with the group! Your cards are so incredible this month! I absolutely adore the little buckets hanging from the twine. The black glitter looks fabulous on the cat and bat, and what a great idea to stuff the embellishments into the little pocket on the 3rd card. Your banners are darling, and you're going to see a similar card with the black crow from me in the near future. :) Love all of these!
