WMSC #111 - Be Happy

I made a quick card today for Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge #111, a super cute long and narrow card sketch by Julia Aston.  Here's the sketch:
I love stamping backgrounds for my cards, and very often do it subtly with Versamark on kraft cardstock.  For today's card I turned the sketch on it's side and stamped a  harlequin pattern from Heirloom Patterns onto the kraft cardbase.  It's very easy to line up and looks so much nicer than using just the kraft cardstock all by itself.  I stamped the jar from Candy Jar Christmas Fillers onto a Spellbinder Label.  I made a few patterned paper Playful Pinwheels and added them into the jar with some bamboo skewers.  I added two strips of ribbon and a cute sentiment banner from Playful Pinwheels.  I punched a couple of holes in the label and threaded some bakers twine though to hold my banner.  I think I am keeping this card for myself...who doesn't need to see such a happy sight every once in a while?

What a super card. I just love those paper pieced pinwheels, and I love the choice of colors and patterns you used. I had a vague notion of using those pinwheels with a jar when I bought that set. Now, I'm pinning your card, because it is exactly what I wish I would have thought of--so I'll just case you. Glad you are keeping this card for yourself. You deserve it.

Hi Cathy! I love this card and I'd keep it too! The colors and how you've included the sticks for the pinwheel bases is fantastic! I think there is a current challenge maybe Embellish?? that calls for pinwheels! You should link it up!

Hi! I love the way you priced the center of the pinwheels. The ribboon looks great too . Love the way you used the twine to hold the sticks together. As always very creative,
Cathy! Gorgeous 3d card.

This is such a fun cute card Cathy! Love the perfectly stamped background, the fussy cut pinwheels on the wood skewers and the twine keeping them put is clever and cute! I knew you'd rock these!

Oh SWEEEET, Cathy! The colors are fantastic on those pinwheels in the jar (wrapped in coordinating twine, eek!) They just pop against the krafty paper with the harlequin print. Do I spy denim RIBBON? It's so awesome on this!
