1st PTI Scrapbook Page

Today I tried something I have never done, use PTI products to make a scrapbook page. I usually buy patterned paper and other pre-made embellishments, but since I have invested so much into my stamping materials as well as have been inspired by Kelly Purkey, Dawn McVey, Michelle Wooderson, Erin Lincoln and Heather Nichols, I just forced myself to try to make a page without heading out to Michael's first. I had a piece of yellow 12 x 12 paper. I stamped random Dot Spot images in Versamark, aqua mist, sweet blush and vintage cream. I embossed them with either silver or clear embossing powder. This is the first time I have ever embossed and liked the result. The trick to it was using the embossing buddy or little bag filled with powder to swipe across the page before I added the embossing powder. This is the first time that I haven't had lots and lots of little flecks all over the page. I wish I had thought to take a picture of the paper before I glued all the pictures on it. It was really pretty. I printed out some pictures from my son's wedding last July and matted them on some smokey shadow and aqua mist papers. I used a rub-on sentiment for the title and zig zag stitched it. I added a little scalloped border with some aqua mist buttons tied with white twine for some variety. I stamped a couple of journaling tags using the new PTI fillable frame #1 and a scalloped circle from Take Note. Matt and Katie can fill in what they remember of that moment (if they can remember anything, they were both so nervous). I am really happy with how this page turned out although I think it is a little plain and "organized". I love the look of the "pros" who make their pages look more candid and free-flowing. I'll work on that in the future.

Cathy, don't be so hard on yourself...I love this layout! I like how the Dot Spots behind make me think of camera flashes going off to capture wedding moments. :) But that's just my take on it! :)

Well, I thought I posted a comment!

Anyway, I think you did a great job on this. I love your creative use of the Fillable Frame for journalling blocks. And I know what you mean about staying out of Michaels to fund the PTI habit.

If this (or something like it) posts twice, sorry!

I love it Cathy! Such a clever way to use the stamps we have invested in for a totally different purpose.

I started out scrapping and then got into stamps, so I love to see ideas like yours that inspire me to meld the two together.

Thanks so much for sharing!

PS It looks like it was a lovely wedding!

I am so happy to see you used PTI for scrapbooking. Looks great! Since I found PTI I had sort of given up on scrapping but this gives me inspiration to pick it back up!

This is really pretty Cathy! Dot Spot makes a fabulous back drop here, I may need to rethink this set (I don't have it yet).
