Fusion Card Challenge #12 meets CAS(E) this Sketch #81

I know I say this every week, but this week...I really mean it!  You are going to love this week's challenge!  Fusion Card Challenge #12 is joining CAS(E) this Sketch #81 with a fun and inspiring sketch by Sam Simpson.   Fusion Card Challenge has provided the inspirational photo and who knows what we will see from all of our participants when they fuse them together!
Here's the sketch and photo:
I was inspired by all the beautiful gold and white...the elegance of the table setting and the cute stitching in the sketch photo.
My son and daughter in law are having their 6th wedding anniversary very soon and this year is extra special for our entire family.  They are expecting their first baby and so I am imagining those champagne classes are filled with sparkling cider for Katie...champagne for Matt and a great big toast to many more happy years together.
I used Papertrey Ink's Propose a Toast stamps and a Cheery Lynn Mandy Doily below the banner.  The stitching along the top was not the easiest to do.  I used metallic gold twine and does it ever shred!  I ended up using fray check to bind two strands together so I could stitch a straight line with out fraying.
Ready to see what the Fusion Design Team and CAS(E) this Sketch Design Team have done with the sketch and photo?

Fusion Card Challenge #11

It is starting off to be a beautiful Summer...I am writing this post from vacation and am just crossing my fingers it posts as it should.  This week our Fusion Card Challenge #11 is not only a great sketch, but also includes a very bold and colorful inspiration photo.  Check this out:
You know how this works...use either the sketch, the photo or a little bit of both to create Fusion.  This week...I used both to make a fun "Last Day of School" card for a co-worker.
The recipient of my card loves sparkly flip-flops and I tried to use gems in the same rainbow of colors as the inspiration photo.  That cute die cut frame is from Papertrey Ink and the flip flops are from Lil Inker.  I sure wish I had a pair just like them!

Now it's time for you to check out what the rest of the Fusion Design Team has created for you and then get busy making your own card.  You have two weeks to play along...the challenge ends on June 16th at noon PST.

Fusion Card Challenge #10

Welcome to Fusion Card Challenge #10, a challenge where you can use either the sketch, the inspiration photo or a little bit of both to jump-start your creativity.  We had some fabulous card submitted for Challenge #9 and I hope you will find your own card HERE.  Ready to see this week's challenge?

This week I decided to use both the sketch and the photo for my card.
The sheet music patterned paper was the first thing I focused on when I first saw the photo for this week's challenge.  The red polka dot and white plates were also high on my list of inspiration for this card.  I made a shaker card using an Impression Obsession die that does all the work for you.  I punched my own confetti using a mini punch and glittery patterned paper and layered it all onto a woodgrain embossed kraft card base.  I used my Silhouette to cut a multi-loop bow and it's hard to see in the picture but that is very shiny black chart tape as a borer for the sheet music.
You have two weeks to play along with Challenge #10...the deadline is Monday, June 2nd at noon PST.  Hope to see your card in our gallery very soon!

Fusion Card Challenge #9

Welcome to Fusion Card Challenge #9...each week the cards submitted for our challenges keep getting better and better...here's a link to last week's favorites...hope you see your card in our gallery!
Every two weeks we post a new challenge with three different ways to play along:
                                           1) Use the sketch
                                           2) Use the Inspiration Photo
                                           3) Combine them and use a little bit of both (Fusion)!

Here is your inspiration for Week #9:

This week I combined a little of both.
I loved the black, yellow and white combination from the photo as well as the banners from the sketch.   I used Lil Inker Spring Flowers Die Set and created some very dimensional flower embellishments.  Once I started layering them, I had to force myself to stop.  Can't you just see those flowers done in red and whites for a beautiful dimensional Christmas poinsettia?  I can't wait to give that a try next holiday season.  I also used a Stitched Mat Square as the flower pot and the great big "Hello" sentiment from Darling Diamonds Stamp Set.
Still need a little more inspiration?  The Fusion Design Team would love for you to visit and see what we all have created for you.  You have two weeks to play along with our challenge...the challenge ends on Monday, May 19th at noon PST.  Have fun!

Fusion Challenge #8

Today's Fusion Card Challenge #8 is a bright and cheery one...just look at this photo and sketch:

I had no hesitation this week...I knew from the minute I saw this picture that I was going to base my card on the rainbow of chevron colors.
I used Waltzingmouse Stamps Funky Feathers stamp set and brought out an array of ink colors as close as I could get to the ones in the inspiration photo.  Notice the chevron pattern in the feathers?  How cool is that?  The birthday die cut is from Papertrey Ink as well as the inked "Happy" stamp.  It is a very rare day when I make a card that can actually be sent through the mail and I am happy to say this one definitely qualifies.

I am hoping you will want to play along with our challenge...just make a card based on either the sketch, the inspirational photo, or a little bit of both for perfect "fusion"!  You have two weeks to play,  the challenge ends on Monday, May 5th, noon PST.  Here's some more inspiration from the Fusion Design Team!

Fusion #8: Celebrate

I've been so excited to share this card with you today...welcome to Fusion Card Challenge #8.  Isn't that a beautiful inspirational photo?  I guess I am a Spring/Summer kind of person because I LOVE these colors!
This week I used both the sketch and the photo for my inspiration.  That is what is so great about the Fusion Card Challenge...you can use either the sketch, the photo or mix them together like I did and create Fusion!
I loved the colors...that should be obvious, but I also loved the tiny touch of gold around the edge of the chair, the pretty pink silk bows and the overall happy theme of the photo.   I used Papertrey Ink's Shape Up Series: Cupcake Die for the focal point of my card.  I cut the top part of the cupcake down a bit so that the scale would be right for an A2 card base.  I traced the base of the cupcake and cut it out by hand since I wanted to run it through the crimper without the score marks.  The crimper "shrinks" everything, so the larger base now fits the smaller size top of the cupcake.  Does that make sense? Before I crimped it, I added a thin strip of gold tape and after crimping, it almost looks like gold stitching.  The gold sentiment was the perfect size for the cupcake base...where else was I going to fit a sentiment on this card?  LOL.  Last thought...tell me why digging through mounds of buttons to find the exact right shade and size is so much fun?  My husband came into the room while I was searching through stacks of buttons and couldn't believe how many I have!

So what do you see in the photo...or will it be the sketch this week?  The Fusion Card Challenge runs for two weeks and just in case you still  need a little more convincing to play along, the Fusion Design Team have created some beautiful cards to tempt you to get busy making something fabulous!

Sadly for our Fusion team, Geri Freeman has had to leave our little group where she will be greatly missed, but on a happier note, we are very fortunate that Jeanne Jachna of A Kept Life will be joining us and sharing her beautifully "Fused" cards with us every two weeks.

Fusion Card Challenge #7

Welcome to another Fusion Card Challenge...have you seen the winners for Challenge #6?  We had so many fabulous cards submitted again...it was so difficult to choose a favorite!  Check out the winners here.
Now...on to Challenge #7!  What do you think of the inspirational photo and sketch?
1

Here's how to play along:

PROCEDURES:
1. Play with just the sketch challenge.
2. Play with just the inspiration photo challenge.
3. Or you can create FUSION by combining BOTH challenges into one card.
4. Use the challenge graphic and link back to Fusion in your post.
5. Please read the other considerations on the Our Rules Page before playing along.

I based my card on the sketch this week...I loved that oval in front of the two rectangles in the sketch.  I've been waiting all year to use my Waltzingmouse  A Good Egg stamps...last year I got them too late for Easter, so it was like using a brand new stamp set!
3
I used a couple of notebook dies and stamped a bright pattern with a few of the stamps from A Good Egg.  For the oval portion, I used one of the cute Easter Eggs and matching cut files that go along with the set.  I also used a cut file to cut out that sweet bunny and banner.  I wanted to bring out more of the green color so I added a small vine die cut from Poppy Stamps.  I clipped all the elements onto each other with a mini clothes pin.   This was such a fun card to make.

So...what will it be for you this week?  The Sketch, the photo or a combination of both?  You have until Monday April 7th at noon PST to submit your card...can't wait to see what you come up with!

Fusion Card Challenge #6

Welcome to Fusion Card Challenge #6.   We have had so many people playing with our challenge...it is almost impossible to choose a favorite, much less a winner!  Have you seen if your card was a winner for Challenge #5?  Here's a link to find out...I sure hope you see your card there!
Today's challenge is going to have you thinking GREEN.  Check out the sketch and photo we have for you to work with this week:

What do you see?  Those green flowers stamped in the pretty pattern...or do you see the square frame of the sketch?  Even better...do you see a combination of both, because that is all you have to do to play the Fusion Card Challenge.  Make a card based on either the sketch, the photo, or fuse them together and make a combination of elements of both.  Easy, right?  Here's what I came up with:

I went graphic this week and fused both the sketch and the green color from the inspiration photo.  Who couldn't use a little good luck card to give them some encouragement when they need it the most?  This card was made using a cut file from the Silhouette Store (Checkerboard Edge Shadow 2).  I added one of the newest dies from Serendipity Stamps (Shamrock Die) as my focal point.  Isn't that the greatest detail on the shamrock die?  The sentiments are from Lil Inker (Rainbows and Clouds Sentiments), just right to let someone know you are thinking of them and wishing them well.
Time for you to check out the rest of the cards made by the Fusion Design Team and then you can get going on your own card based on this week's sketch or photo.   You have two weeks to play...the challenge ends on Tuesday, March 25th at noon PST.   I can't wait to see what you come up with!

Fusion Card Challenge #5

I hope you have been playing along with the new Fusion Card Challenge...we have had so many players and a ton of beautiful cards submitted based on either our sketches or inspiration photos.  If you haven't heard about us...all you have to do is make a card based on either:
The Sketch
The Inspiration Photo
or
Combine them both to create "Fusion"

For Fusion Card Challenge #5, we have another great sketch and photo for you to use:
This week I decided to use just the sketch.  I was drawn to the big circle image and the gentle curve along the bottom.  My first thought was a snow bank, but ended up making some rolling hills instead.  I cut my hills by hand and used a silhouette cut file for the barn and windmill.  I ran the barn layer through a crimper to give it a little more texture.  I hope you can see that the big sun image (also a silhouette cut file) is meant to replace the large circle in the sketch.  I cut it from card stock, laid it over my card base and used the negative space to sponge on harvest gold ink.  The cute farm animals and sentiment are from Papertrey Ink's On the Farm Stamp and Die sets.

So, what is going to inspire you this week?  Will it be the sketch...or the photo...or a combination of both?  Either way, you have plenty of time to play along.  This challenge ends on Tues. March 11th at noon PST.  I can't wait to see what you create!
