12 Kits of Occasions: June with Marybeth

It's the last day of the month and time for our June edition of the 12 Kits of Occasions.  Marybeth of Marybeth's Time for Paper is our hostess and our theme this month is "Here Comes the Bride",  all about weddings and anniversaries.   It's always good to keep a few of those cards handy and with Marybeth's kit...I am prepared for quite awhile!

Here's a picture of the kit we had to work with this month.

I took the kit with me on vacation and had lots of crafty time with it.  I made 5 cards and have quite a bit left over for when I need a quick wedding or anniversary card.

Want to see more from the 12 Kits of Occasions group?  Head on over to the 12 Kits of Occasions blog so you can hop around to see what the rest of the team has done with Marybeth's May kit.

All the supplies are listed on the 12 Kits of Occasions blog under the tab Monthly Kit Supplies 2014 here.

We have a guest designer joining us this month.. Lindsay from Occasional Crafting.  Be sure you stop by her blog to see her beautiful cards.

Thank you Marybeth for a great kit!

Fusion Card Challenge #12 meets CAS(E) this Sketch #81

I know I say this every week, but this week...I really mean it!  You are going to love this week's challenge!  Fusion Card Challenge #12 is joining CAS(E) this Sketch #81 with a fun and inspiring sketch by Sam Simpson.   Fusion Card Challenge has provided the inspirational photo and who knows what we will see from all of our participants when they fuse them together!
Here's the sketch and photo:
I was inspired by all the beautiful gold and white...the elegance of the table setting and the cute stitching in the sketch photo.
My son and daughter in law are having their 6th wedding anniversary very soon and this year is extra special for our entire family.  They are expecting their first baby and so I am imagining those champagne classes are filled with sparkling cider for Katie...champagne for Matt and a great big toast to many more happy years together.
I used Papertrey Ink's Propose a Toast stamps and a Cheery Lynn Mandy Doily below the banner.  The stitching along the top was not the easiest to do.  I used metallic gold twine and does it ever shred!  I ended up using fray check to bind two strands together so I could stitch a straight line with out fraying.
Ready to see what the Fusion Design Team and CAS(E) this Sketch Design Team have done with the sketch and photo?

Card Concept #12: Use a Nautical Theme

The Card Concept is going out to sea this week...our challenge #12 is to use a nautical theme.  I'll bet you have at least one nautical stamp or die set you can use...I am ashamed to admit I had quite a bit more than one to choose from.  What can I say...I love nautical images!  This week at Card Concept we are saying goodbye to Karen Davis who is one of our Freestyle Collage Style Design Team Members.  Karen will be greatly missed and starting this week, I am going to try to fill her very big shoes and step into the Freestyle Collage category while Lesley Croghan will be creating for the Classy and Elegant style.  So, just in case you don't know what Freestyle Collage is...here's the definition:
unrelated elements in a collection
can be done in any style
Sound like fun?  Here's the card I made using my new style:
I used a variety of die cuts and one stamp set to make this card.  If you've never heard of My Favorite Things Blueprints Dies...you SHOULD!  I got this as my first set (Blueprints #14) and think the Blueprint series is going to be my go-to dies for Freestyle Collage cards. Every one of the dies can be used in so many different combinations and I can not wait to collect them all.  I used WPlus9's Dockside to stamp and die cut the badge and sparkly anchor.  I used a Silhouette cut file for the Birthday Boy sentiment and cut a shadow in contrasting blue so it would stand out a bit more.  You have two weeks to make your card based on any of our six Card Making Styles and a nautical theme.

Sweet Booties

This month's Papertrey Ink release was such fun for me.  There were all kinds of very cute "baby" themed stamps and dies and I bought just about all of them!  I can not wait to find out the gender of my little grandbaby, but until I do...I made a test set of booties for someone who is having a baby girl this September.  They turned out so cute...and were so easy and fun to make!

Here's the little gift set I made with the Bootie dies.  Adorable, right?  The felt cut out so nice and clean...the stitching was relaxing and different color combinations just flooded me with ideas.  I made a matching little headband to go along with the booties too.
I can't tell you how many times I have taken these out and just stared at them, daydreaming what they would look like on our own sweet baby!

Fusion Card Challenge #11

It is starting off to be a beautiful Summer...I am writing this post from vacation and am just crossing my fingers it posts as it should.  This week our Fusion Card Challenge #11 is not only a great sketch, but also includes a very bold and colorful inspiration photo.  Check this out:
You know how this works...use either the sketch, the photo or a little bit of both to create Fusion.  This week...I used both to make a fun "Last Day of School" card for a co-worker.
The recipient of my card loves sparkly flip-flops and I tried to use gems in the same rainbow of colors as the inspiration photo.  That cute die cut frame is from Papertrey Ink and the flip flops are from Lil Inker.  I sure wish I had a pair just like them!

Now it's time for you to check out what the rest of the Fusion Design Team has created for you and then get busy making your own card.  You have two weeks to play along...the challenge ends on June 16th at noon PST.
